About
I'm a graduate of the UNCG BFA program who has finished a Master's Degree in Instructional Design and Technology at Full Sail. I bring a passion for gamification and motion graphics to instructional design projects in numerous industries. With a strong background in ADDIE methodology, I create courses that increase performance and improve safety. My initiatives engage team members at all organizational levels.
Over the course of 20 years, I have partnered with cross-functional leads to deliver training solutions that match complex business needs. I strive to apply the full range of my abilities in all that I do.
I am also a game designer and have published games on the Google Play Store. I have been modding games since Duke Nukem. Quake and Half-Life were the catalysts that got me to learn 3d modeling. As tech roared on I learned Zbrush in its early stages. My BFA does help with bridging the gap in these tools. Just like A.I. we still have to add humanity to these games. Otherwise, they are just tasks to do. This is where my Digital art blends into gaming because I lean towards interactive art. The new media art that is defined by the viewer.
What I Do
As an Instructional Designer, I assess problems to find an educational solution using the latest peer research solutions that leverage simple usable, accessible tech to the very high end of industry pushing trends like Gamification, AI, SCORM, SCRUM, and social applications.
My career experiences are starting to cross polenate into some thing more focused and prepared than before. I just finished a Master’s in instructional design and technology and realized that I have been doing this job for over 20 years. As an indie developer for nintendo, and mobile developer I’m not afraid to tackle the tech of this industry. As an work station builder I have 20 years of experience configuring and learning about the latest advances and making them work while saving money on platforms as expensive as Threadrippers cpus drive from their Epic server line. The only thing stoping me is access to data right now.
Vision
As a technologist and as an educator I have always dove headfirst into the latest tech. Unknowingly I’ve been an instructional designer for over 20 years. It all started with my IT work at college in the early 2000s to win a national science foundation grant in 2004 by using flash to make a network-based learning platform using unreal engine and torque. I’ve always been unafraid of the tech being thrown at us because to me it is the one thing we must embrace in order to overcome the towering tasks and problems that await our success.
This approach is only a fan of solutions. I learn the fundamental of the tools to build bigger tools not to become shackled to brands. As a business owner of over 10 years, I’ve learned that success is about getting things done in the smartest way possible while using the experienced of research and development. The only failure is the failure to continue. Hard work yields wisdom and best practices.
Who am I?
Creative and passionate gamification specialist with expertise in instructional design, programming, and motion graphics. Strong track record of inspirational leadership in diverse fields. A keen eye for detail and process improvement opportunities. Over 20 years of progressive experience in tech-heavy roles. Dynamic and personable with the communication skills needed to convey complex information.
I enjoy making games as an indie designer, working on a personal comic, creating artwork that sometimes blurs the lines of what is is virtual and real. I also enjoy traveling and the history related to it and learning about new or lost cultures. When I'm not doing all of that I'm trying to be the best father and husband I can be.
